i've completely abandoned these weekend reports, mostly because i'm not doing terribly interesting things, and i promise, my only goal here is to provide you with terribly interesting content. clearly. but josh pointed out my web site was empty, so i thought i could write a bit.
friday: dinner with stoller (grilled cheese at toldeo; i think if i had to pick one food to eat for all of eternity, that might be it), birthday party for dave at bourbon. where i drank a fine glass of bourbon. i don't know what it was, but it was tasty. but only one drink, because i had to wake up early for a training run on saturday morning. speaking of, have you seen the elevation map for the baltimore race? pray for me.
saturday: due to a communications snafu, my 10 miler didn't end up taking place - but i was up at 7am anyways. so what did i do? sat on the couch and watched some fine fine mtv, naturally. they were showing each of the VMA video winners from each year since like 1990 or something. turns out i am a disappointing person because i enjoy nsync, michelle branch, and even prodigy. of course, best of all is still the backstreet boys' video for "i want it that way."
then it was on to a barbecue with the girls, and some errands, and shopping, and then it was texas football time. susan made this great mac 'n cheese that looked relatively simple, and i highly recommend it to everybody (you don't even have to cook the pasta, just bake it). i hear texas won, though i wouldn't know, because i somehow managed to fall asleep at 10:30.
sunday, i headed to garrett's amazingly delicious lunch in his enviable apartment up in woodley park, then back down to bloomingdale with sommer for the haitian choir and pig roast. the scene was great; big crowd, wonderful and adorable boys choir, tons of food, and beer reserve back behind the table. the photo set is here. then after the crowd had dispersed, we sat down for the rest of the afternoon and evening to drink loads of beer and eat leftover pig. a few excerpts:
